Why lilies don’t bloom?

The flower of the lily is in an embryonic stage within the bulb, as are the leaves. Usually, flowering is dependable. But there are reasons why a lily won’t flower. Lilies won’t bloom in deep shade, although the plant may grow.

Another thing we wanted the answer to was, why do rain lilies only bloom when it rains?

We should figure it out! in these situations, a rain lily may be nearly dormant for weeks or months, springing to life following a rain. The rains would not only provide water, but will lower the temperature for a period. The plant takes advantage of this and quickly flowers and sets seed.

So basically, for a large portion of the year, the plant is meeting the low temperature, high water criterion. It doesn’t work. The plants bloom only and only when it showers. By the way, the behavior is not limited to pink rain lilies. It’s the same with yellow and white lilies.

While the same things that affect calla lilies planted in the ground can also affect calla lilies planted in containers, there is a more common reason that container grown calla lilies do not bloom. This reason is that they do not get a dormant period in order to prepare for a blooming season.
